Een van de meest complete verzamelingen van zeldzaam en nooit eerder gezien beeldmateriaal van WOII is volledig gerestaureerd voor optimale beeld- en geluidskwaliteit. Met behulp van satellieten werden de terreinen van slagvelden gedetailleerd in kaart gebracht. De nieuwste computertechnieken stonden garant voor nauwgezette reconstructies. De samenstellers van deze serie hadden de beschikking over technieken die eerdere documentaireseries over de oorlog niet hadden.

Naast de nieuwste technieken gaat deze serie ook inhoudelijk verder dan eerdere documentaireseries. De afgelopen jaren is onze blik op de oorlog drastisch veranderd door nieuw vrijgegeven documenten en foto’s.
